In an effort to curb food waste?a global problem, with a third of all uneaten food produced winding up in landfills?France has just passed a new ?zero-tolerance? law banning supermarkets from destroying unsold food, which will now go to charity instead.

They are now plannning to make this global . I think this is a great idea to end a nation's food hunger. What do you guys think?

They should of been donating food ever since not waiting until some penalty is enacted to start, but thy how the business world is not willing to accept any loss even if it could be used for something good

This is a brilliant idea and I hope other countries take note and follow. I think this should also extend to markets, groceries, and other places that supply food/ingredients as well though. I saw something on the food channel a while back showing perfectly usable produce being thrown out by restaurants because they weren't considered perfect. Top chefs were able to use some of the produce to prove that the ingredients could still make delicious food. For those that are able to make their own meals, that would make this movement even better.
